Mini Waterpolo League Huge Success

The Cathal Brugha club in conjunction with Belfast City Council has for the last five weeks been running a hugely successful gateway programme to attract primary school children to play water polo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The final series of games was played at Andersonstown Leisure Centre on tuesday evening(13th Dec) when Squids(Brugha) beat Dolphins(Donegall Diamonds)  in their final game to lift the Cup and medals which were presented by Belfast Lord Mayor Niall O'Donnghaile.Six teams too part in the pilot scheme and Brugha chairman Phil Kelly was fulsome in his praise of all who had helped to make the venture such a great success."Hopefully we can develop and expand this initiative to other clubs and venues in the New Year" he said last night.

 

Sarah Keane the Chief Executive of Swim Ireland was also there to present the prestigous Clubmark  award  to Brugha,the first Water Polo club in Ireland to achieve this.Also present among the large crowd were Wally Clarke(President of Swim Ireland) Peter Ferguson(President of Swim Ulster) Cara Mulcahy(Irish Water Polo) Henry Johston(Chairman Ulster Water Polo) and Paddy McGrattan(Sports Development Belfast City Council)
