Volunteers and Committees

Swim Ulster delivers its services to 40 member clubs and 3,500 members throughout the nine counties of Ulster. With a staff complement of three, the organisation relies heavily on the numerous volunteers throughout the province who contribute an estimated 20,000 hours of volunteers time per year. This results in an estimated £200k of contribution in kind.

Volunteers contribute to the fulfilment of Swim Ulster services by, for example, providing:

  • coaching/teaching
  • child protection duties
  • management & administration of clubs
  • providing transport of club members
  • organising galas
  • officiating at galas (referees, stroke judges, timekeepers etc)

The Board of Directors (also volunteers) are directly involved in the various committees which process the numerous functions required to fulfill our services. These include dealing with:

  • Education
  • Selection
  • Competition committee
  • High Performance
  • Gala organisation
  • Rules
  • PR & Marketing
  • Disability
  • Equality
