| Child Welfare Guidelines |
|
All clubs must ensure they are following current best practice as identified by the 'Swim Ireland Guidelines for Safeguarding Children 2008'. These guidelines are the essential reference point for clubs to ensure the welfare of children is paramount within the club environment and for those working with children in the aquatic disciplines. Contact Kate Hills, National Children's Officer, at the Swim Ireland office (0035316251140). Swim Ulster clubs are insured on the basis that this best practice is being applied. If any club is unable to demonstrate that these guidelines are being applied, the Swim Ulster insurance policies will not cover that club. Any queries, contact Gerry Cappa, Swim Ulster Business Manager (028 90383228). Swim Ulster is registered with AccessNI as the umbrella body for the aquatic sports in Ulster and facilitate the AccessNI process of ensuring only appropriate people have contact with our children. We organise regular Child Protection courses so contact the Swim Office if you are interested in a course for your own club members. We will publish news and resources to safeguard Child Welfare on this site.
