50 metre Pool

Bangor has been selected as the venue for Northern Irelands first 50m Olympic swimming pool. The pool will be the location of the New Swim Ulster offices on completion. The venue will consists of the following features:

Leisure water: a themed family fun area including a wave pool, water slides, flumes, interactive water play features and bubble pools.

Swimming pools: a 10 lane, 25m x 50m pool with 2 submersible booms to facilitate full international long and short course competition.  A 25m x 16m x 4.8m diving pool with 5m diving boards.  Swimming opportunities will include lessons, classes, recreational and lane swimming, and training for clubs.   Latest technology will be used to vary the water depth and divide the space for different activities.

Health and fitness suite: 120 pieces of new fitness training equipment will be complemented by exercise studios for various aerobic classes, along with a sauna and steam room.  A high performance strength and conditioning suite will also give athletes and clubs access to specialist training equipment.

Main sports hall: an ‘eight court hall’ will provide a facility for a wide range of sports.   In addition it can be a venue for concerts and exhibitions with extensive retractable seating.
