DCAL Minister Nelson Mc Causland cuts the first sod at 50m pool

Frank Stevens, the President of Swim Ulster was present when the first sod was cut at the Bangor 50 metre  Olympic pool site by DCAL Minister to the Northern Ireland Assembly, Nelson McCausland.

Hy-Tek Training Evening

The new Swim season is nearly upon us and Swim Ulster are holding another Hy-Tek training evening on Monday 13th September 2010. Following the success of the last information evening there has been requests from clubs to do another one.

 

Start time:7pm

Queens PEC, Botanic Park, Belfast, BT9 5EX

 Meeting Room 5

 

Please bring a laptop with Team Manager on it if you can. If you are coming in groups from a club one laptop between 2/3 should suffice.

 

Even if you dont attend the information evening please supply us with the name and email address of one person (the gala secretary) who will be responsible for doing entries during the 2010/2011 swim season.

Free Fundraising Seminar for Ulster Clubs

Swim Ulster are hosting a Fundraising seminar on Saturday, 4th September at Queen's PEC, Room 5, 10 am - 12 noon.
The seminar will be delivered by Neil Irwin, Fundraising Advice Manager for NI Council for Voluntary Action.
Neil will discuss fundraising opportunities for our clubs, with particular reference to the Gift Aid scheme, whereby Charities can reclaim 28p from the Revenue for every £ received as a donation.

With fundraising becoming ever more difficult, many of our clubs could benefit from Neil's expertise.

Farrans Awarded Bangor Pool and Leisure Contract

North Down Borough Council has awarded Farrans Construction Limited the contract to build Northern Ireland’s first 50m Olympic-sized swimming pool.  The pool will be built as part of a new state-of-the-art leisure complex at Valentine Playing Fields in Bangor. 

 The project represents an investment of £38M, including up to £15M investment from the Northern Ireland Executive.  It is anticipated that employment opportunities for around 200 tradesmen will be created during the course of the build. 

 Construction is due to start on site before the end of August 2010 and the facility will be open by late summer 2012.
